The Kremnica GOLD company opened the Mining Museum in deference to the mining history of Kremnica, in August 2008.
The Museum documents the history and the present of the gold deposits and the miners' work in different time periods. The hard work of miners since 16th century until the recent past gets closer to visitors while taking a walk in the underground. The exhibition is located in the former Andrej's exploratory tunnel from 1982 on the Mining road, close to the Ludovik's shaft. The tunnel provides the tourists with the opportunity to visit a part of Kremnica's underground, where the famous mining history was created. They can experience the atmosphere of these old mining units. The tunnel's tour presents its visitors the miners' work during the time of Andrej's tunnel digging and gradually goes through the workplaces from different time periods. Visitors can find themselves in 16th century. The glance on the gold flakes in the quartz veins and the impression of the "absolute dark" enhances this unusual experience.
The route of the educational path „In Footsteps of Mining Activities" goes by this ground.
