The area with the size of ten hectares is used for all kinds of public events. It is, for example Run up Calvary Hill organized every year. There are plenty of dendrological specimen of precious old trees - mountain maple, lactic maple, slender ash, large-leaved linden, small-leaved linden. Though the Calvary is close to the town, it creates appropriate living conditions for variety of species. Occurrence of higher vertebrates is remarkable: except forest deer, it is mainly forest roebuck, wild boar, predacious fox, forest marten and field hare. Their presence make the locality attractive for all visitors, but mostly for families with kids. Old solitary trees laid out throughout the whole area are very appropraite nest trees, mainly for hollow tree bird species. Birds class/society is represented by songbird species, e.g. warble thrush, black warbler, large tit, whooping jaybird, forest nuthatch. The bird-predators, which live here are large hawk and mice falcon. Owls are represented by forest owl and screech owl.
Path to Calvary is part of the educational route, you will enjoy a nice walk path through the trees to the top to the church to get to the viewing tower . The route starts at Ferdinand pit, located only a few hundred meters from the bus station, it continues on Rumunská army street, behind the last house begins to climb up the hill of Calvary. The path along the Way of the Cross chapels climbs to the Church of Sts . Cross. From the observation point you can experience attractive views on Kremnický štít, Skalka, Kremnické Bane, Jarabicu to Sitno.
